PHYSICIAN
Responsibilities Position
Summary:
The Physician provides direct patient treatment, ensuring all new patients are seen within twenty-four hours of admission, and makes rounds on a regular basis.
Physician participates in treatment planning, implementation, and monitoring.
Orders appropriate lab studies, prescribes medications providing medication monitoring and management.
Participates in outcome monitoring, Peer Review, Quality Improvement, Risk Management, and Patient Safety Initiative.
This position represents the facility and Medical Staff with outside agencies, managed care companies and treatment facilities.
Qualifications Education:
Florida Board certified MD specializing in Psychiatry
Experience:
Must have 2 - 3 years' patient treatment experience with children, adolescents and adults.
License:
Florida License as a Psychiatrist as issued by the Florida Department of Health.
Skills:
Good verbal and written communication skills to combine assessments, treatment planning and intervention into meaningful document.
Ability to communicate with members of interdisciplinary treatment team, managed care representatives, children, adolescents, adults and residents' families in a clean and concise manner.
Knowledge of individual, group and family therapy dynamics and techniques as related to cultural, social, economic, communication and role expectations within the family system.
Good clinical skills to assess treatment dynamics accurately and develop effective treatment strategies within the context of the overall treatment plan.
Ability to obtain and interpret information in terms of child and adolescent needs, knowledge of growth and development stages and possess an understanding of the range of treatment needed by this age group.
Strong leadership skills.
Must be flexible.
Physical Requirements:
Position requires good mental attitude.
The work demands long hours of sitting with some bending and lifting of supplies, paper, medical records, etc.
Some physical confrontation and/or restraint may be necessary when dealing with residents.
Other:
Performs other duties as may be assigned by the Chief Executive Officer.
